What you need to know
- Android Auto 14.0 is stable and deploys publicly via an update from Google Play Store now.
- The update, which could take weeks to appear for everyone, does not seem to have new features.
- An apk disassembly of the update soon indicates the features of Gemini to come on the Android Auto screens.
Android Auto 14.0 begins to deploy users as an update in the Google Play Store, as reported for the first time by 9TO5GOOGLE. Although the Android Auto 14.0 update does not seem to include new features or behavioral changes, there are some signs included in this index in Gemini who soon replaces Google Assistant.
This should not be a huge shock because Google revealed earlier this month that Gemini would officially replace the assistant on most devices by the end of 2025. There are already indices that Gemini could possibly reach Google TV, Android Auto and Nest Hardware. Now that Android Auto 14.0 is stable and deploys, there are more code chains that preview how Gemini could take control of the Android Auto screens.
A particular prompt, hidden in Android Auto 14.0 APK, reads “Gemini is now the assistant of your car personal.”
9TO5GOOGLE also revealed the following code channels in Android AUTO 14.0 which refers to future features, prompts and investigation questions: Gemini:
Gemini is now the personal AI assistant in your car
How was the message summary content?
How satisfied were you with Gemini in Android Auto today?
What was your primary goal for using voice interaction in Android Auto today? Select the task that had the biggest impact on your satisfaction.
How was your Gemini experience?
Aside from code channels, there are also various images for Gemini and Gemini Live included in the Android Auto 14.0 update. However, these channels are not live, so don’t expect to use them after updating the latest version of Android Auto. At the time of publication, you cannot yet use Gemini in Android Auto.
However, it seems that Google is preparing to make the big passage of the Gemini Auto Gemini assistant soon. We have already seen that Gemini features can be activated manually, and the latest image assets and code channels in Android Auto 14.0 are still another sign that the transition could occur imminent.
We do not know when exactly the Gemini experience will be available for Android Auto users.
