Google’s response to malicious applications
According to the blog of Google’s Android developers, applications downloaded from outside the Play Store are 50 times more likely to contain malware. Just in 2023, Google deleted approximately 2.3 million suspicious applications of the Play Store to save users. However, some harmful applications still manage to pass, which makes users crucial to remain cautious.
Google has prohibited more than 300 applications that have operated the safety gaps. These applications deceived users by displaying misleading announcements and trying to steal sensitive data, including the details of the credit card. The company now strengthens the live threat detection of Play Protect to make more difficult for hackers to create and distribute false applications.
