Google can ignore Android 15 for television, moving directly to Android 16.

Android TV versions can move on to a biféneral schedule.
Many Android phones have so far received their respective update from Android 15, but if you have something powerful Android that is not a smartphone or a tablet, your mileage can vary. TVs are still on Android 14, but it seems more and more that Google could simply ignore the Android 15 update for Google TV and devices powered by Android TV.
Google is apparently hard to prepare Android 16 for television, but in the meantime, it may not start the latest version of Android on televisions and streaming devices. The calendar of the next Google I / S Developer conference has recently been revealed, which explicitly mentions the preparations for “Android 16 for television” as part of the Android TV session. This, associated with the complete absence of any advertisement concerning an Android TV 15 in recent months, suggests that Google could circumvent version 15 entirely for its television platform, directly from the current Android TV 14 to the new Android TV 16.
For years, the version of the Version for Android TV has mostly followed the Version of Android Mobile, offering a new version of Android TV each year alongside new versions of phone and tablet, or at least shortly after. This model first saw disturbances with Android TV 13 – This version has never reached consumption devices, existing only as a developer before its code base is ultimately merged in Android TV 14. This time, we did not even have a public developer preview for Android TV 15, and Google did not even recognize its existence. With Google already announcing the next step as part of Android TV 16, it is sure to say that Google is not at all Android 15 for your TV, Chromecast or Streamer.

Google TV has boring new announcements
Prepare for your already canceling advertisements to become even more boring.
If this is true, it is not exactly surprising. A few months ago, Android authority reported That Google would not go ahead with Android TV 15 after announcing in private this decision with partners. With Google releasing Android 16 earlier than usual this year, killing Android TV 15 could have been one of the painful movements Google was to make to achieve this goal. Or Google may have simply decided that Android TV was better on a bifĂ©neral schedule rather than an annual schedule. If the latter is right, we will see the next major update in 2027, with Android TV 18. One thing that we must keep in mind is that even if the annual updates are cool, people do not tend to upgrade their TV as often – a television can stay in a living room for 10 years. Hell, I improved television in my living room after 12 years, and only because the old one was about to die.
We will have to wait and see what Android TV 16 has in store, but in the meantime, you will have to continue to wait a little longer.
