After the announcement of last month, Google is now deploying an overhaul of the Family Link application of Android for parents. The objective is to provide the “most important tools and resources to manage screen time in the foreground”.
Instead of “protruding facts”, the first tab is the “screen time” with the upper card noting “time spent today” and the most used applications. Tapping provides more detailed use ventilation. This is followed by cards for their device (with a “locking” shortcut), deadlines and schedules.
With this update, Google has “combined the application limit and the daily limit in a button so that you can manage time limits in a transparent manner”.
The Controls tab is always in the center with a material that you prosper. There are leading links to the parameters of the Google, Google Play, YouTube, Google Chrome and Web, Google Search, Google Photos, Location settings and connected devices.
The location is the last section with some card modernizations. Another objective of this update is to facilitate the supervision of multiple devices and children, with a new design of pills in the upper corner to the left.
We see this family affair overhaul deployed with version 2.47 of Family Link on Android. It is not yet available on iOS.
This deployment joins the Google portfolio for children yesterday in some countries. It is available on phones and OS Wear watches.
