During the longest from the release of Android, it is available for users and developers to access thanks to its open source configuration via the Android Open Source (AOSP) project, but Google is moving things now. Instead of following its previous method of “trunk development”, the company takes more private things because it wants to simplify its processes.
Google makes Android Development Private after all these years
Android Authority reported That Google has officially confirmed to them that the company now makes the development of Android entirely private, and the company now seeks to start its transition soon. Instead of sending the latest developments on Android on its AOSP, the company will now focus on its internal development branch which will only be accessible to its partners.
Google mobile services (GMS) are those authorized to access Android, and membership of this would require a license agreement with the company, which it currently has with Samsung, Motorola and other technological companies.
According to Google, the company wishes a simpler development process of the Android operating system instead of having available it for public and private branches. With this, the company could rationalize the development of Android because it no longer needs to merge the two branches in each version.
Will Google Android will always be available in open source?
The main concern about this is the number of developers lost access to Android developments that are available in AOSP. However, Google’s latest confirmation also mentioned that it will continue to share the latest Android developments via AOSP.
Google will continue to share the source code of its mobile operating system via AOSP, but will always focus its internal development.
Google open source smartphone operating system
What distinguished Android from its rival operating systems is its open source availability, which has allowed developers to create new applications and experiences that they can offer users more easily. For this reason, there was also a rapid confirmation of what Google is preparing for the Android operating system, with its files, its API, and more showing what is happening.
However, it was a double -edged sword for Google, because the different bad players took advantage of this open source availability by creating malware, viruses, etc. which can easily imitate a legitimate Android experience. Massive cases of false applications and software have been created on Android to steal information or assets, as well as to disturb its experiences.
Due to this open source availability, Android captured first place as the most used operating system in the world, especially because developers have had the chance to better integrate their technology because of its wide accessibility.
