Android 16’s overview cycle continues with the next beta version which is expected to arrive on Thursday, February 13. We have always known that Android 16 Beta 2 arrives this month, but Google providing an explicit teaser is somewhat unexpected.
This overview comes from the @AndroidDev X account Wednesday afternoon: “Be on the lookout for the abandonment of Android 16 Beta 2 tomorrow.”
In terms of user -oriented changes, Beta 1 in January was not a major update. It was a more important version for the planned public of application developers:
It remains to be seen if Beta 2 will change this, especially on the front of the user interface. Officially, it is an “incremental liberation of beta-quality”. Google providing an Android 16 beta teaser is interesting, but this is not translated into large features.
More broadly, it will be interesting to see what type of Android 16 A presence at E / S 2025 on May 20. The Chronology of Android 16 of Google approaches to “Beta 4” (in April), but leaves the possibility of another “almost final construction” in May. Historically, the conference of developers was used to reveal the main features, but the previous preview cycle complicates it.
