Google Pixel phones are appreciated for many reasons, and their software is chief. Google offers many exclusive pixel capacities, such as features powered by AI that simplifies telephone calls and photography. However, Pixel phones also lack frustrating certain basic features that users migrating other brands are often waiting. A notable omission is a double -filming gesture to turn off the screen, but Google could finally add this feature to Pixel devices.

Many of the best Android phones in brands like Samsung, Xiaomi and OnePlus allow you to turn off the screen by tapping the locking screen, but Pixel phones do not offer it. Double pressing the locking screen on a pixel simply does nothing, which is strange since you can double the screen to activate it.
In the latest beta version of Android 16, however, there is evidence that Google finally adds a gesture to turn off the screen with a double tap on the locking screen. However, this gesture is not yet active in Android 16 Beta 4, nor a user -oriented parameter to activate it. Nevertheless, I was able to make it work and it works exactly as planned. With this new gesture, you can double on an empty stain of the lock screen to deactivate the screen of your pixel phone.
It is surprising that Google does not add this basic double -tape gesture earlier, but we are happy that the company finally implements it. We do not know when the functionality will be officially unrolled, however. Since it is not available in Beta 4, it is unlikely that it appears in the Stable Android 16 version. The functionality can happen from the first quarterly update for Android 16, but we will have to wait and see.
