Apple rolls out iOS 18.3: what’s new

It appears that app summaries in the Entertainment & News category have been temporarily disabled. However, they may return and be restored in a future update. If necessary, it should come with the final version of iOS 18.3 or later.

A few days ago, the suspension of the functionality was just announced. Now in a statement, Apple has confirmed that a software update will be rolled out in the coming weeks. The update will be clear when the text displayed is a summary provided by Apple Intelligence. The tech giant also encouraged users to report any issues if they encounter unexpected notifications.

With this update, Apple aims to help you distinguish between summaries generated by Apple Intelligence and initial information sent by media outlets.

Other updates not to be missed

Besides the updates mentioned above, there are some changes you should know about. These include the following:

Summary notifications are now displayed in italics. This helps separate them from all the usual standard notifications.

You can turn off notification summaries directly in each app from the lock screen by swiping up a notification and tapping the Options button.

In the Message menu bar (usually accessed by pressing the + button in any conversation), there is now an entry for Genmoji. Previously, you could only add emoji by tapping the emoji keyboard button. AI can now help you create a Genmoji.

In case you edit a PDF through the screenshot interface, if you crop the content, Apple now provides a warning. It displays a warning that the cropped content is not removed from the PDF.
