  • Google is working to provide air conditioning settings to Android Auto, allowing users to control multiple parameters by car without having to go to Android Auto in the operating system of the head unit of their car.
  • We have managed to activate the climate user interface to give you an early overview.
  • In screenshots and video demonstration, prominent and persistent buttons to control the temperature and speed of the fan with two areas, heating and cooling of the seats, the defrosting of the windshield and others are visible.

If you have an Android headlight and a car, you’ve probably heard about and used Android Auto. Android Auto is an interesting way to take advantage of the intelligence of your phone and associate it with the larger and more conveniently positioned screen on the head unit of your car, to obtain navigation and other features with very little distraction. However, Android Auto is not perfect, and a long -standing complaint of users is the absence of air conditioning parameters, for which users often have to return to the operating system of their car head unit. Google was spotted by working on the contribution of air conditioning parameters to Android Auto, and today we have a demo, presenting the upcoming arrangement of Android Auto with the integrated air conditioning settings.

Car manufacturers have their own operating system in the car’s head unit to manage orders in cars such as control of alternating current, temperature, etc. However, this operating system is often rather naked and dull, which is why many people prefer to connect their phone for the cable / wireless Android car operating on the car’s head unit. This opens up features such as navigation and musical reading to operate on the car’s head unit, allowing you to enjoy the larger screen of your car and better speakers than your phone.

However, the connection of your phone to the main unit of your car for Android Auto can leave you in situations where you do not have access to certain parameters by car, such as CA temperature control and fan speed. This is not a problem for cars that have physical controls on their dashboard, via pushing or touch buttons, but it becomes a problem for cars that don’t. In these situations, users are often obliged to leave Android Auto to the head system of the manufacturer of the automaker to control these parameters.

Car manufacturers can opt for Android Automotive OS (which works in the car itself, independent of your phone) to provide a unified Android experience to the main unit which not only offers a reading of navigation and music, but also deeper car controls. However, this is generally not possible, especially for cars that are not already shipped with Android Automotive OS. Thus, most users are blocked with Android Auto and the operating system of the unit of their car.

To repair this situation, Google worked to provide climate control support to Android Auto. This would apparently allow users to control various parameters of their car, such as the temperature and the speed of the fan, the front and rear defrost, etc.

Now, with Android Auto V14.3.151804, we have managed to activate the new Android Auto user interface to give you the first preview of these upcoming air conditioning settings that are intended for Android Auto.

As you can see in the image above, there are two pairs of AC commands, apparently linked to the driver’s side and to the side of the cabin passenger. We see an option called “Sync”, which probably synchronizes the parameters on both sides. We also see icons for cooling and heating seats and for defrosting the windshield.

The above screenshot shows how the climate control pane is in the lower rail while your applications and other information occupy the rest of the screen.

Spaced icons are neat if you have a larger head unit screen. There is also an icon of parameters on the far right to access the other parameters of the car.

Here is a demo of the air conditioning component in Android Auto for an even more in -depth exam:

There is a good chance that it is not because Google has added buttons for a feature that your car will support it. Some of these features depend on the equipment, so if your vehicle does not have double -zone air conditioning or heating / cooling / ventilation of seats, you will not automatically obtain these features simply because they are visible in the user interface. Even if you have the equipment, there is probably a communication involved between Android Auto and your car to control these parameters in the car, and this may not always be perfectly executed, we therefore expect some strokes and failed. That said, having the user interface in place will be a large boon for users, and car manufacturers / head units manufacturers can solve all problems once users are starting to wait / requiring appropriate support.

The air conditioning parameters in Android Auto remain a work in progress. We don’t know if and when Google publishes this functionality. Given the progress of usefulness and the development of functionality, we are optimistic about its imminent arrival. We will keep you posted when we learn more!
