If you have spent time on X (formerly Twitter) in the past year, there is a good chance that you have been flooded from the “Askons Grok” trend.
The Chatbot of generative artificial intelligence developed by XAI quickly became the subject of online gossip, users poses all kinds of questions, from deep philosophical to politically loaded hypotheses.
Grok, named after the term invented by the science fiction author Robert A. Heinlein and modeled after the irreverent tone of The Galaxy Hoofing Hoofing Guideis designed to be a companion, a guide – and, apparently, a bit of a troublemaker.
Unlike its more cautious counterparts, the Openai chatgpt, Google Gemini and others that tend to be mistaken on the side of manifest neutrality – Grok is not afraid of the relaxed language, the slang or even the juron. This has led to a wave of users who test its limits, asking absurd or provocative questions just to see how far it will go.
The “disturbed” mode of the chatbot, available for premium subscribers, leans in its more rebellious sequence, offering wild, unpredictable and often interrupted humor. This mode, combined with real-time access from Grok to X posts, means that AI is constantly learning from chaotic discourse not filtered from the platform.
In India, an X user, frustrated by Grok’s delayed response to a question about their “10 best mutuals”, added a word from Hindi juron to their follow -up. Goer released In kind, using the same explanative and telling the user to “stop crying”. The exchange has become viral, some amused at the audacity of Grok and others questioning the ethics of AI.
Musk, never one to avoid controversy, defended Grok’s tone as a reflection of his mission – to be an AI more linked and more similar to man. In a blog article announcing Grok, xai describe He is an assistant with “a little spirit and a rebellious sequence”, designed to answer questions and even suggest the questions to ask. The company has also highlighted the advanced capacity of Grok reasoning, including its “think” and “big brain” modes, which allow it to tackle complex tasks with sophistication.
In FEBRUARYThe beta version of Grok 3 has been previewed, XAI calling them “most advanced model to date: mixing solid reasoning with in-depth pre-training knowledge … The reasoning capacities of Grok 3, refined by learning in large-scale reinforcement, allow it for a few seconds to a few minutes, correcting errors, by explaining alternatives and providing specific answers.
Interesting fact, Grok was also under the spotlight censorship Negative content on Elon Musk and Donald Trump. The Chatbot would have been invited to ignore critical sources towards its creator and the American president – and in an archived exchange, Grok initially appointed Elon Musk as a large scope of disinformation, but also revealed that he had been ordered to reject the criticism targeting Musk and Trump.
After the public counterpoup, Xai said that he had deleted the instruction. Grok now names Musk openly when it was questioned about the disinformation on X, insisting that he has no more bias in his responses, but the incident raised concerns concerning the potential manipulation of AI to protect the influential figures of examination or responsibility.
While XAI has attributed censorship to an internal error, with an old Openai employee bearing the blame, the incident highlights the several existing question points around the transparency of AI and ethical surveillance.
In India too, where the Chatbot’s Hindi responses have aroused particular interest, users flooded Grok from politically loaded questions, testing its ability to navigate sensitive subjects.
A user asked Grok to list “the lies peddled by PM Modi”, which aroused an answer which cited unachers and exaggerated complaints – only in 2019.
Grok’s boom also raises broader questions about the role of AI in our lives. Should these systems be neutral, polite, intentional and disinfected, or is there an argument to be made to create ISs which reflect the disorder and the controversy of human societies and communication?
