Google offers a new charging feature aimed at extending smartphone battery life by automatically stopping charging when the battery is 80% full.

Until now, smartphones have traditionally been charged to 100%, but experts in the lithium-ion technology that powers smartphones largely agree that charging to around 80% gives batteries a longer lifespan. long.

If you have a recent Pixel device or a smartphone with Android 15, you can enable Google’s new feature in your battery settings. This will only work when your phone is turned on.

Meanwhile, Android’s Adaptive Charging feature, available for Pixel smartphones, ensures you have a fully charged phone if you plan to be out all day.

This feature analyzes your charging habits and, based on that, attempts to fully charge your battery just before you need the phone. This means that if you plug it in overnight, it may only charge your phone to 100% in the last hour before you disconnect it.
