The next iOS 18.4 update for the iPhone adds an ambient music function to Control Center. Below, we take a closer look at how it works.
IOS 18.4 is currently in beta version, so the ambient music function is not yet widely available. The update will probably be published to the general public next week.
To use the functionality on iOS 18.4, open the control center and press the panel plus in the upper left corner. Then press “Add a check” at the bottom of the screen, scroll to the ambient music section and add one or more of the controls.
Here’s how Apple describes the four ambient musical themes:
- Sleep: Music for a relaxing sleep.
- Coldness: Music for relaxation.
- Productivity: Music to focus on tasks.
- Well-being: Music for meditation and personal care.
You can add one of the four ambient musical controls to your control center, then press one to start a song reading list that corresponds to the theme. The functionality is free and easy to use, without Apple Music subscription or required application.
Although the ambient music function is activated, musical controls will appear on the screen, and there is also a dynamic integration of the island on more recent iPhones.
There are four reading lists available for each theme, or you can define yours. To modify the playlist, open the control center, then press the more sign in the upper left corner of the screen. Then press an ambient musical control that you added to the control center and press the name of the reading list. A drop -down menu will display additional playlist options.
- Sleep: Sleep sounds, bedtime rhythms, sound bath and piano sleep.
- Coldness: Chill Piano, Chill Ambient, Lo-Fi Jazz and Pure Chill.
- Productivity: Beaststrumentals, binaural frequencies, pure focus and classic concentration.
- Well-being: Pure meditation, spa, beating and breathing and pure calm.
To update your iPhone to iOS 18.4, once the update is published, open the Settings application and select General → Software update.
