Set sail! Max’s swashbuckling romantic comedy Our Flag Means Death will return for a second season on October 5, a year and a half after the first season ended.

The streaming service has already released the first three episodes of the new season and will continue to release two episodes at a time every Thursday throughout October.

If you want to watch all the pirate action and quirky romance between Rhys Darby’s Stede Bonnet and Taika Waititi’s Edward Teach (aka Blackbeard), you can sign up for a seven-day free trial of Max through Prime Video. Thereafter, the ad-free version of the streaming service will cost $15.99 per month.

Created by David Jenkins and executive produced/directed by Taika Waititi, Our Flag Means Death tells the story of gentleman-turned-pirate captain Steed Bonnet and his on-again, off-again relationship with Blackbeard. After putting his past behind him, Bonnet attempts to rescue his crew and reunite with his former lover, who has taken over his former ship, the Revenge.

The comedy also stars Con O’Neal, Vico Ortiz, Samson Kayo, Matthew Maher, Ewen Bremner, Joel Fry, Nathan Ford and others. Guest stars for 2023 include Minnie Driver, Bronson Pinchot, Rachel House, Leslie Jones and more.

Meanwhile, Max renewed Our Flag Means Death a few months after its first season, thanks to its impressive streaming numbers and mostly positive reviews. In her comment, type Television critic Caroline Framke wrote, “One of the most interesting things about ‘Death to Our Flags’ — and if that’s the case — may also appeal to fans who want something more obviously absurd. Disappointment – that in its search for comic treasures it ends up being more mildly introspective than outright funny.” “
