AJ Styles will challenge Cody Rhodes for the undisputed WWE Championship at Clash at the Castle 2024. The two-time WWE Champion lost to Cody at Backlash and was denied a rematch by Smackdown General Manager Nick Aldis. Styles took matters into his own hands after being denied a rematch and faked a retirement a few weeks ago on Smackdown.

Styles attacked Cody during the segment and later challenged him to a match. A day before Clash at the Castle, the WWE veteran revealed the reason behind Cody’s attack. Speaking on the launch show, Styles said: “I did it because Nick Aldis wasn’t going to give me the opportunity I wanted. I deserved it when I ripped his head off by Cody Rhodes, I knew exactly what I was doing because he was playing right into my game and giving me what I wanted.

The match between the two superstars will be an I Quit Match. The superstar who says I Quit will lose the match. Styles will have the members of the OC by his side but Cody is expected to leave the show with his title.

Styles has not won a world championship since 2018. He has competed for the Universal Championship, World Heavyweight Championship, and Undisputed Universal Championship, but has not won any of them. He has won the Intercontinental Championship and the Tag Team Championship for the past six years.

Other matches for Clash at the Castle 2024

WWE has announced five matches for Clash at the Castle 2024. Damian Priest will defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Drew McIntyre. The match between the two superstars will likely be the main event. It remains to be seen whether or not CM Punk will return to the series.

Bayley will defend her WWE Women’s Title against Piper Nevin. Piper was born in Scotland and will be competing in front of her home fans. She is not expected to win the title.

Sami Zayn will defend his Intercontinental Championship against Chad Gable. The members of Alpha Academy will likely join Gable in his match against Sami. Sami defeated Gunther at Wrestlemania 40 to win the title and has held it ever since.

Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill will defend their Women’s Tag Team Championship against the team of Alba Fyre, Isla Dawn and Shaya Baszler, Zoey Stark. Belair and Cargill won the title at Backlash.
