Iphones finally obtain a highly requested parameter, but availability is limited.
The next iOS 18.4 update has an option to define a default navigation application, other than Apple Maps, but unfortunately this new parameter is limited to EU users. There, you can now define an application as Google Maps or Waze as a default navigation application on the iPhone by opening the Settings application and pressing applications → Default applications → Navigation.
Apple made this change in response to the EU digital market law.
Apple, we would be delighted to see this option available worldwide.
Apple has at least made a small concession for American users, allowing them to define a default translation application on iOS 18.4. For example, you can define Google Translate by default translation application of your iPhone, instead of Apple Translate.
iOS 18.4 is currently in beta. The update will be published to the general public in early April, according to the Apple website.
