Apple Intelligence started at a Rocky startSummaries of misleading messages to Siri’s delayed improvements, but AI technology is far from being a bust. In my daily use, I use features that are not as clarifying as Image Games AreaBut those who help in small important ways. And the just out iOS 18.4 Perhaps added my favorite new feature, prioritize notifications, which pay attention to important alerts.
If you have a compatible iPhone – a iPhone 15 pro,, iPhone 16th,, iPhone 16,, iPhone 16 pro (or their variants plus and max) – I want to share six features that I turn almost every day.
Other features will be added over time – and keep in mind that Apple Intelligence is still officially beta software – but that’s where Apple begins its age age.
On the other hand: Are you not impressed by Apple Intelligence or want to wait for the tools to evolve more before using them? You can easily Turn off Apple Intelligence Completely or use a smaller subset of features.
Be alerted to priority notifications
iOS 18.4 adds a new intelligent notification feature which is subtle and, so far, useful. When a notification happens, which seems to be more important than the others, the priority of notifications appears at the top of the list of notifications on the lock screen (with a colored Apple intelligence flicker, of course). According to my experience so far, these include weather alerts, texts from people with whom I regularly communicate and emails that contain calls for action or imminent deadlines.
To activate it, go to Settings> Notifications> Prayer notifications Then activate the option. You can also activate or deactivate priority alerts from individual applications on the same screen. You are counting on AI algorithms to decide what is high at a priority – but that seems to be off to a good start.
In iOS 18.4, Apple Intelligence can prioritize notifications to attract your attention.
The summaries bring TL; Dr to your correspondence
At one time with so many requests for our attention and apparently less time to search in longer subjects … Sorry, what was I saying?
Oh, it’s true: how often you wanted a “too long” version; not only long e-mails, but the communication pipe that makes you explode? The possibility of summarizing notifications, mested messages and web pages is perhaps the most omnipresent and the least intrusive functionality of Apple Intelligence so far.
When a notification arrives, as a text by a friend or a group in messages, the iPhone creates a short summary to a single sentence.
Apple Intelligence summed up two text messages.
Sometimes the summaries are vague, and sometimes they involuntarily funnyBut so far, I have found them more useful than not. Summaries can also be generated from alerts by third -party applications such as news or social media applications – although I suspect that my outdoor security camera picks up several passers -by over time and did not tell me that 10 people are stacked by the door.
No one told me there was a party at home.
That said, Apple Intelligence certainly does not understand sarcasm or families – you can deactivate summaries if you prefer.
You can also generate a longer e-mail summary in the messaging application: Press the To summarize Button at the top of a message to display a preview of the content in a few dozen words.
In Safari, when visualizing a page where the reader function is available, press the Page menu button in the address bar, press Show the reader Then press the Summary button at the top of the page.

Siri obtains a shine and better interaction
I was amused during iOS 18 and iPhone 16 stipulates that the main visual indicator of Apple Intelligence – Siri’s full screen and colors. Apple even turned on the edges of the solid glass cube from its Apple Fifth Avenue store in New York as a Siri search.
Instead, iOS 18 used the same old Siri sphere.
Now, the modern SIRI look has arrived from iOS 18.1, but only on the devices that support Apple Intelligence.
Siri under Apple Intelligence looks like a multicolored halo on the edges.
With the new look, there are some Siri interaction improvements: it is more forgiven if you fall through a request, like saying the bad word or interrupting you in mid-thought. It is also preferable to listen to after giving results, so you can ask related monitoring questions.
However, the ability to personalize the answers according to what Apple Intelligence knows about you is always at the bottom of the road. What appeared, from iOS 18.2, was the integration of Catthat you can now use as the other source of information. For some requests, if Siri does not have the answer right away, you are asked if you want to use Chatgpt instead. You don’t need a chatgpt account to take advantage of it (but if you do it, you can connect).
Cons up silently without triggering everyone’s devices
Speaking of Siri, my new favorite feature may be the possibility of raising the assistant without saying the words “Hey Siri” aloud. In my house, where I have HomePods and family members use their own iPhones and iPads, I never know which device will answer my call (even if they are supposed to be intelligent enough to resolve it).
In addition, honestly, even after all this time, I am not always comfortable talking to my phone – especially in public. It’s quite boring when people lead telephone conversations on the speaker, I don’t want to add to the hubbub by making Siri requests.
Instead, I turn to a new feature called Tap To Siri. Double the lower edge of the screen on the iPhone or iPad to display the Siri search bar and the keyboard on the screen.
Double the bar at the bottom of the screen to display a Siri speechless search.
On a Mac, go to System settings> Apple Intelligence & Siri and choose a key combination under Keyboard shortcutsuch as Press the control key twice.
Yes, this implies more strike work than just talking about conversation in conversation, but I can get more specific requests and not ask me if my robot friend understands what I say.
Remove the distractions from your photos using cleaning in the Photos Application
Until iOS 18.1, the photo application on the iPhone and iPad has no simple feature. Dust on the camera lens? Rental on the ground? Sorry, you have to face these distractions and others in the photo application on macOS or the use of a third -party application.
Now Apple Intelligence includes cleaning, an improved deletion tool in AI, in the photo application. When you change an image and press the To clean Button, the iPhone analyzes the photo and suggests potential elements to delete by highlighting them. Press one or draw a circle around an area – the application erases these areas and uses a generative AI to fill the plausible pixels.

In this first incarnation, cleaning is not perfect, and you will often get better results in other dedicated image editors. But to quickly remove the troubles from the photos, that’s good.
Stay on the task with the mode of focusing reduced interruptions of the AI-BOOSTED
The modes of focus on the iPhone can be extremely useful, such as activation of not disturbing to isolate yourself from external distractions. You can also create personalized development modes. For example, my podcast recording mode blocks the outside notifications, except from a handful of people during the planned recording times.
With Apple Intelligence activated, a new mode of development of reduction interruptions is available. When active, it becomes a smarter filter for what exceeds the wall holding the superfluous notifications. Even things that are not specified in your authorized notification criteria, such as specific people, may appear. On my iPhone, for example, which may include weather alerts or texts from my bank when a major purchase or transfer of funds has occurred.
To activate it, open the control center, press the Focus button and choose Reduce interruptions.
The mode of development development of interruptions (on the left) intelligently filters possible distractions. Light it in the control center (middle). When something happens that might need your attention, it appears as a perhaps significant marked notification (right).
