iOS 18.4 will mainly focus on Siri
It now seems likely that Apple is preparing to deploy its next beta version, this time designed to offer significant improvements to its voice assistant.
Apple continues to slowly deploy Apple Intelligence, the first features appearing in iOS 18.1. These included writing tools, broad system summaries and a cleaning of photos.
With this next beta version, Apple will start to test a handful of new features centered on Siri. This includes an application intention system that will allow Siri to have a context on the screen for commands. Apple has already asked developers to start working on new feature in iOS 18.2.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman announced the Beta to come Friday on the wires:
“I expect iOS 18.4 Beta 1 to be released between the middle of next week and the start of the following week. So it happens soon.”
Apple is also preparing to extend the Apple Intelligence to take care of more languages in iOS 18.4. The update should add support to the Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Koreans, Portuguese, Spanish and Vietnamese.
There is a good chance that we will see the UNICODE 16 update, which should bring seven new Emoji characters, including the root vegetables, the face with bags under the eyes, the shovel, the harp, the splashes, the ‘leave without leaves and fingerprints.
Apple published iOS 18.3 to the public at the end of January. The latest updates have been focused on expanding Apple’s intelligence features, in particular the improvement of visual intelligence, the fight against summary concerns of notification and activation of Apple Intelligence by default.
