Mint Mobile and Boost Mobile now support RCS, alongside Google FI and more
RCS messaging is a newly supported functionality of iOS 18 which makes SMS between iPhones and Androids much better than before.
Indeed, RCS is a more modern messaging protocol than the SMS – the previous standard for non -average.
But due to the operation of the technology, Apple adding RCS support in iOS 18 did not automatically provide functionality to all iPhone users. Instead, each carrier had to implement its own RCS media.
All the largest American operators have taken care of the RCS on iPhone for some time, including AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile.
Many small carriers have also allowed RCS messaging. But some of the main holluts at this point have been the MVNO T-Mobile as Mint Mobile and Google FI.
Now, with iOS 18.4, there is a complete RCS support for all MVNO T-MOBILOI such as:
- Metro by T-Mobile
- Mobile mint
- Mobile boost
- Google FI
- And more

If you run iOS 18.4 Beta 2 – or when you install the publication of iOS 18.4 next month – you can start using RCS in the Messages application immediately.
You can check that your operator is now supported in two ways:
- Access Settings ⇾ Applications ⇾ Messages then scroll down to the RCS Messaging section
- Or to go parameters ⇾ General ⇾ and press the carrier line to see if RCS is listed
Some of the RCS advantages on SMS are that it supports several iMessage type features, such as:
- Tapback reactions
- Sending better quality photos and videos
- Read receipts
- Entry indicators
IOS always displays green bubbles for RCS conversations rather than blue, but you should generally not encounter some of the same problems with RCS as SMS tends to cause.
