Apple has broadcast a variety of announcements in the past year by pushing Safari as a friendly browser choice for iPhone, iPad and Mac users. But in iOS 18.4 Beta 1, there is a new Safari functionality which could accidentally undermine this message – despite a solid utility.
iOS 18.4 Beta 1 shows recent research when opening a new tab
The first beta iOS 18.4 is full of a variety of large and small changes in functionalities.
An update that I appreciated, but it also makes me a little uncomfortable – at an involved the Apple browser, Safari.

I really see how it can be a useful feature, offering easy ways to relive previous research and submit them quickly.
But that could also make sure that some iPhone users feel uncomfortable by seeing their recent research presented so well in the application.
Especially if you give your device to someone else, what many of us do. In situations like this, the new Safari functionality of iOS 18.4 could be a big problem for certain users.
- Have recent research displayed when you start a new feature: good functionality.
- Display your research when someone else starts a new search: not so great.
It is very possible that this feature can be deleted in future IOS 18.4 beta before the launch of the public. For the moment, however, it is a potential confidentiality problem to know.
IOS 18.4 Also, for the moment at least, does not seem to offer a way to turn it off. Although you can always erase your recent search history with a quick tap, I have not yet found options in the Settings application to constantly deactivate the functionality.
