iOS 18.5 Public beta 1 adds mail leveling, not much else

Apple published the first public version of iOS 18.5 On April 15, more than two weeks after the publication of IOS 18.4 to the general public. Although this update has brought more emoji to all iPhones, the last beta brings some bug corrections and some modifications to messaging applications for public developers and beta testers.

Because it is a beta version, I recommend downloading it only to something other than your main device. This is not the final version of iOS 18.5, so the update can be a buggy and the battery life can be affected – it is preferable to keep these problems on a secondary device.

Note that the beta version is not the final version of iOS 18.5, so more features could land on your iPhone when it was released. There is no word on when Apple will publish the IOS 18.5 update of the general public.

IOS 18.5 Adjustment mail options

Apple has introduced some small messaging application updates in the beta iOS 18.5 version. One of these updates facilitates the adjustment of the application parameters by allowing you to display or hide contact photos by mail. Contact photos are the images to the left of the emails in the mail and help to identify who sent these emails.

The mail will display the default contact posters, but you can deactivate them from the application with the IOS 18.5 beta version. To do this, open EmailPress the three points (…) in the upper right corner of your screen and press Show contact photos. Now all your emails will simply display the object line and an overview of the message, similar to the appearance of the mail before iOS 18.

Another update of concerns Categories. If the mode is activated, you can now see all your mail in each category in one place. To do this, open EmailSwipe the categories bar near the top of the mail on the left and press the new category All mail.

Something else in the beta version?

Not that I can say it, and I am not surprised. The conference of the Global Developer of Apple should take place in June, so iOS 18.5 will probably remain rare so that Apple can focus on iOS 19.
