IOS 18.5 is the next iPhone update being released. With about a month of beta tests completed, the new software update is almost ready for public launch. Here is when to expect.
iOS 18.5 should be launched in mid-May
Apple often follows fairly predictable models with its software release cycles.
For example, here are the last years of iOS X.5 launches:
- iOS 17.5: Monday May 13
- iOS 16.5: Thursday May 18
- iOS 15.5: Monday May 16
As you can see, mid-May is a coherent model.
This same moment should also be true with iOS 18.5, and the most likely release dates are Either Monday, May 12 or the following week May 19.
There are several reasons why Apple seems likely to send iOS 18.5 to one of these dates.
- The two correspond to the moment given the previous years
- Mondays are generally Apple’s favorite day for software updates
- And the current beta cycle iOS 18.5 shows signs to finish very soon
To expand this last point, iOS 18.5 so far has been very light on new features. There are two improvements to the Apple messaging application and some other updates of small small interns, but that’s all for the moment.
Two other features can be revealed closer to the launch time, but we may not see them in the before beta version.
This means that very few went from a beta update to the next. As a result, Apple has little reason to extend the test cycle.
In addition, this week, Apple has sent the developer and the public beta of iOS 18.5 and its additional updates on the same day. This does not occur normally until late in a beta cycle, when the launch is close.
All this means that we will probably see the iOS 18.5 RC (exit candidate) next week May 5, or the following week on May 12. The launch of the public should then follow a week later.
Then we will only be a few weeks Apple revealing its great redesign IOS 19 at WWDC.
