iOS 19: Everything we know so far

Believe it or not, we’re only six months away from the announcement of iOS 19. Ahead of that launch, rumors began to surface about things like new features in iOS 19, supported devices in charge, etc.

Will your iPhone support iOS 19?

Every year, one of the most important questions is which iPhone models will support the latest iOS update. Turns out there’s good news across the board for iPhone users in 2025. According to the often-reliable folks at iPhoneSoftAll devices supporting iOS 18 will be able to update to iOS 19.

This means that the following devices will support iOS 10 this year:

  • iPhone XR
  • iPhone XS and XS Max
  • iPhone11
  • iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone 12 and 12 mini
  • iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max
  • iPhone 13 and 13 mini
  • iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max
  • iPhone 14 and 14 Plus
  • iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max
  • iPhone 15 and 15 Plus
  • iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max
  • iPhone 16 and 16 Plus
  • iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max
  • iPhone SE (2nd generation)
  • iPhone SE (3rd generation)

The key context, of course, is that not all of iOS 19’s features will be available on all iPhone models. Some of the most power-hungry features, like Apple Intelligence, will be limited to newer iPhone models.

iOS 19 Features

LLM Siri

According to BloombergOne of the big new features in iOS 19 will be an upgraded version of Siri that leverages Advanced Extended Language Models, or LLMs.

The new Siri will “interact more like a human” and work similarly to other platforms like ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini. It will also tie into the existing App Intents system in iOS to provide “fine-grained control over third-party apps.” Bloomberg said.

Currently, iOS 18 offers ChatGPT integration as part of Siri and Apple Intelligence. However, Apple’s goal with iOS 19 is to bring this feature in-house and highlight the privacy benefits of its platform over OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

It’s worth noting that while Apple reportedly announced this new LLM Siri as part of iOS 19, the system won’t actually ship until 2026 as part of a later update like iOS 19.4.

Delays

Even as the June announcement of iOS 19 approaches, Apple is still working to complete the rollout of features announced for iOS 18 last year. Some of the most impressive and powerful Apple Intelligence features announced for iOS 18 still haven’t been released and aren’t expected until iOS 18.4 in March.

According to BloombergApple’s ongoing work on iOS 18 development means that a “larger than usual number of features planned for iOS 19” have already been delayed until spring 2026. Indeed, Apple engineers are working still on iOS 18 projects “when they usually would”. already be on the following operating system.

This means that iOS 19 could be missing a number of key features when it releases in September. The missing features would then be added gradually over the next few months as part of iOS 19.1, iOS 19.2, iOS 19.3, and iOS 19.4.
