Apple rolled out iOS 18 in September and leaks about the upcoming iOS 19 have already started to appear on the horizon. The latest report from iPhoneSoft suggests that iOS 19 will be available for all iPhones currently running iOS 18. Yes, you heard right. Just like iOS 18, next year’s iOS 19 won’t remove support for any iPhones. That said, there is a caveat. Keep reading to know the details.
iPhone supported by iOS 19
According to the report, iOS 19 will be compatible with all iPhones capable of running the current iOS 18. Let’s see the full list of iOS 19 compatible devices according to the leak:
- iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation)
- iPhone XR, XS and XS Max
- iPhone11
- iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max
- iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini
- iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max
- iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini
- iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max
- iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus
- iPhone 14 Pro, 14 Pro Max
- iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus
- iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max
- iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus
- iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max
Of course, the upcoming iPhone 17 lineup will arrive with iOS 19 right out of the box.
So, the oldest iPhone models supported by iOS 19 will be the iPhone XR, supported will not be. necessarily have access to each new functionality. According to the report, Apple may reserve some iOS 19 features for new iPhone models. So, if you have an older model, you may need to upgrade to a newer model to take advantage of all the features of iOS 19.
If the report proves legitimate, this would be the second year in a row that Apple has not dropped support for any iPhone models with its major iOS release. The current iOS 18 is compatible with all iOS 17 compatible models, and the upcoming iOS 19 would be compatible with all iPhone models like iOS 18. In 2023, iOS 17 dropped support for iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X.
iPadOS 19 iPad supported
The report also mentions which iPads will be compatible with iPadOS 19. According to the report, the following iPad models will be included in the list of devices supported by iPadOS 19:

- iPadMini7
- iPad 8th generation
- iPad 9th generation
- iPad 10th generation
- iPad Air 2019
- iPad Air 2020
- iPad Air M1 2022
- iPad Air M2 2024
- iPad Pro 2018
- iPad Pro 2020
- iPad Pro M1 2021
- iPad Pro M2 2022
- iPad Pro M4 2024
However, the A10-powered iPad 7 and iPad Pro will not be included in the list of compatible devices as they are not powerful enough to handle iOS 19.
Apple will likely first introduce iOS 19 and iPadOS 19 at its annual WWDC in June 2025. The updates will be immediately released as developer beta, followed by the public release in September.
