iOS more prone to attacks than Android, analysts reveal

A massive analysis of hundreds of millions of devices has revealed that iOS is more likely to be the target of malicious attackers than Android. Even though Apple products benefit from the public perception of being more secure, that hasn’t stopped hackers from setting their sights on iOS.

THE report reveals that 19% of enterprise iOS devices fell victim to at least one phishing attack during the analyzed period, compared to 10.9% of enterprise Android devices. While most phishing attacks remain simple email attempts, the threat of phishing is increasing as more attackers opt for smarter methods to steal people’s data.

In my opinion, phishing attacks will also likely become more complex from now on. Access to even the most basic LLM (Great language model) AI will allow malicious agents to increase the rate of their attacks a hundredfold. Less tech-savvy people are also much more likely to fall victim to phishing attacks if an AI is there to respond immediately.

Oddly enough, this isn’t the only reason Apple products are less secure than commonly believed. Although a higher number of phishing attempts is not an indicator of operating system security, the fact that Apple may betray your privacy is. Apple leads the ranking of companies that hand over user data to authorities. However, Apple devices certainly also benefit from such a closed ecosystem. But now that sideloading third-party apps and alternatives is allowed in the EU, Apple says its users are at greater risk. Fortunately, it’s quite simple to protect against such attacks, but people who don’t understand the technology as well as enthusiasts can have their data stolen.

Modern hacking attempts are becoming more and more fascinating. For example the Vision Pro had a unique security flaw that looked like something straight out of science fiction. But don’t let the increasing rate of phishing attacks distract you from the fact that iPhone16 is one of the best phones you can get today.
