iOS devices are generally more secure than Android, making it the go-to option for the business segment and this could make it a wider target.
Apple always praises its privacy standards and how it protects iPhone users. But a new report suggests that iOS has become an easier target for hackers than Android devices, which is sure to have millions of people worried about their data and how they use it.
The report from security analysts Lookout suggests that even though Android outsells iPhones, hackers have an easier time gaining access to the latter, worrying Apple and its users.
iOS Easy target for hackers, but why
The report claims that iOS devices are highly preferred by the enterprise segment and they are becoming easier to target for phishing attacks. In fact, the Q3 2024 report even mentions that 18.4% of iOS devices, while only 11.4% of Android devices were targeted by hackers. Attempting to hack these devices means that data such as passwords, usernames, etc. are lost. are under threat, and users should be careful about what they access and open on their official devices. iPhone users tend to install iOS update beta versions which are not ideal on these devices because their security levels are much lower than public versions.
Phishing attacks aren’t isolated these days, and it’s not just enterprise users who should be alarmed by their severity. Anyone can receive an email from an unknown contact with an attractive offer or an offer that is too good to be true. As soon as you are tempted to click on anything in that email, it provides the hacker with the gateway to your device and accesses the data without raising any alarms.
These attacks will only get worse in 2025 with the advent of AI and experts are warning both Android and iOS users about the risks and the measures to follow to protect themselves from these hackers.
