Last update:
The iOS 18 update was released in September last year and is now ready for the iOS 18.3 update in January this year.
Many iPhone users are waiting for Apple’s new iOS update, but it seems that the latest version has caused their performance to drop. A new report claims that most people who installed the iOS 18 update since September 2024 have faced connectivity issues ranging from dropped calls to their iPhone battery draining faster.
This month’s LocalCircles survey suggests that iPhone users are not entirely satisfied with the latest iOS 18 update and the same is true if they have iOS 18.1 or 18.2 installed on their devices.
New iOS update, old issues persist
The survey indicates that 6 out of 10 iPhone users notice network and call drop issues in the country. The report includes responses from over 45,000 users, so the sample size is definitely worth your attention. Apple may not think that 60% is a significant portion of its user base, but nonetheless, call drops have always been a concern in the country and it appears that iPhone users are facing a problem which also affects the battery life of their device.
Network issues mean that your OTT apps like WhatsApp or Signal cannot be used for making calls, as performance makes it difficult to use these apps for calls.
These people mainly blame the iOS 18 update for these issues and we hope that Apple will eventually resolve them with future iOS 18 releases. However, it is worth pointing out that such issues are quite common if using the beta versions of iOS 18, which are strongly discouraged from running on primary devices.
The good news for Apple is that 9 out of 10 people in this survey have upgraded their iPhone to the iOS 18 version which is usually a strong point of the company. Speaking of which, the iOS 18.3 update is expected to roll out in the coming weeks and we’re excited to see if these folks see any improvements with the issues they highlighted in the report.
