It’s basketball time: Spurs vs. Nuggets

Welcome to the Game Thread. Game Thread veterans know how we do things here, but for all you newbies out there, we have a few rules. OUR Community Rules apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll or swear too much.

The Nuggets are one game ahead of the Timberwolves and Thunder for first place in the West, and could maintain home-court advantage into the NBA Finals tonight with a win and losses of the other two teams. The Timberwolves and Thunder both have tiebreakers against the Nuggets, but since Denver’s final game on Sunday is against the Grizzlies summer league team, a win tonight would all but guarantee a first place finish in the The Mile High City team.

Even though the stakes are high for Denver, the Spurs are really just there to put on a show for the home fans, who would love to see Victor Wembanyama play and possibly earn a victory against the defending champions and title contenders. The matchup between MVP favorite Nikola Jokic and Victor will be fascinating, as the two greats will compete with very different skill sets. Jokic’s ability to improve his team and score in a variety of ways is another learning opportunity for the big Frenchman, and fans want to see if Victor has anything new in his game to take into account the Joker’s previous lessons. It’s going to be fascinating to watch and I plan to be there for every moment.

Game Prediction:

Nicola Jokic will miss the match because of too many churros before the shootaround.

One last word :

Go Spurs GOOOOOO!!
