I’ve finally found the best use for Google’s AI Overview

Hate it or love it, AI Presentation is now a firm part of Google’s long-term search plans (unless you turn it off). However, if I had to choose one side, I would fall firmly in the “Hate It” camp. The function of experimental AI offers nothing of value each time it appears; He occupies the screen results too much and provides conflicting hilarious information in the best of cases. As much as I do not like it, I leveled with the fact that it will be part of the research for a while. So I tried to find a way to live with an AI -seated view and, if I can, find good use for that. I think I did exactly that; Naturally, this involves food.

The preview of the AI assesses my appetite for new recipes …

I often count on Android applications to feed food inspiration, be it looking for dinner ideas, finding differences between existing recipes or the discovery of techniques to improve my cooking skills. Sometimes, when I am not completely out of ideas and the recipe books do not cut it, the Internet comes to my rescue.

This last point struck hard earlier this week. After turning a brief vacation, I was too lazy to find something to cook. I would generally use Samsung Food, but user recommendations can only go so far. I had exhausted my usual ways, so I turned to an overview of the AI. I wanted to make a hearty stew the day after my return, but what about the rest of the week? What about morning and afternoon meals? So, opening Google search on my computer, I typed:

7 -day meal plan.

That’s it. This is a simple and open open request, but the OA overview has become surprisingly good for the mileage of this brief invites. He recommended three daily dishes (breakfast, lunch and dinner) for seven days – mainly a full meal plan. See the results below.

Better yet, each recipe included a brief description, links to their source website, user notes, expected time requests and images of the results. Essentially, it is the same offer that I would cross several condensed research pages, but presented in a much more foldable list.

Preserved by the useful results that I have received from this generally disappointing feature, I tried several other requests to understand how high and obtuse I could be with my prompt. My tests included:

  • 5 -day family meal plan
  • Create a meal plan for children under the age of 8
  • Create a meal plan for an active athlete participating in a marathon at the end of the week
  • Meal plan for many lemons
  • 3 -day meal plan for a lazy single person living alone
  • Create a meal plan for a vegetarian (no lettuce)
  • Create a meal with three dishes for a pasta lover
  • Create a 12 -course meal for a French dinner

Everyone offered more organized recipe results depending on the keywords I used. See some of the results below.

The suggestion of “12 dishes” would be particularly brilliant to assemble dinners that require a lot of sides. On the other hand, the “athlete” meal plan offers many foods rich in carbohydrates for those who need fuel rich in nutrients. The preview of the AI impressed me here, but it is not impeccable. Since there is a finite selection of online recipes, I have often found it repeated for certain meals in the same plane. For example, the “meal plan for a lot of lemons” request included a double muffin recipe. In fact, it suggested that I eat muffins for breakfast three of the five days of this particular plan.

AI results of the overview should not be considered as an alternative to a real meal regime developed by a professional.

AI meal suggestions on the overview should not be considered an alternative to a plan developed by a professional. Remember that it is the same service as suggested users to engage in a glue pizza on glue just months ago. Although the results include the origin of the recipe, which means that I could check manually if each recipe is up to par, I would preserve myself against acceptance of the data offered at its nominal value.

I would also like to repeat my reason for using an OI -HERE Overview. The goal was to stimulate a creative spark; It was never a question of creating a viable meal plan offering a holistic supplement of nutrients and a wide range of kitchen. For the planning of more serious meals which requires a balance between nutrition, I would opt for a service specially designed for this purpose, such as Samsung Food or Myfitnesspal.

… but its inconsistencies ruin the experience

There is a clear distinction between the results I received on my PC compared to my pixel phone. I used Chrome on both, but my pixel 8 produced only a provision of simple gemini type results without links rich towards any recipe. I have already explained how rich the office results are. You can see the difference between the two in the image above. This makes the functionality a little less useful for many users. Although the mobile version has taken my locality into account, this information has not really improved the results I received.

You are probably wondering why I would not only use Gemini. I would do it on mobile, an overview of the AI made it beat on the desk.

At this point, you are probably wondering why I would not only use Gemini for this task. Given the results I received on Android, I would probably question Gemini or Chatgpt on mobile, but the overview of AI both beat up on desk. As Gemini is fundamentally a chatbot, it only provides a simple text release without outgoing links or recipes established to follow. The integration of the AI of overview in Google Search means that it can take advantage of real results and present them in a similar way to Gemini with even more information filled in each option. And unlike Google research, it compresses the myriad of results in a more user -friendly foldable list than I can develop.

I am still not satisfied with the preview of the AI, in particular its mobile arrangement. Google is not about to abandon functionality either, while the negative feeling continues to go up daily. Despite its many shortcomings, I can at least credit it to rekindle my love for lemon poppy seed muffins.
