JetBlue announced it will launch nonstop air service from Long Island MacArthur Airport to three popular destinations.
Starting in October, JetBlue will operate daily service between Islip and Orlando and four times weekly service to Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach.
All routes will feature JetBlue’s Airbus A320 aircraft, featuring 162 seats including 42 Even More Space seats.
To celebrate the launch, JetBlue is offering a $49 one-way fare for flights between Islip and Florida destinations for a limited time.
“Our Long Island Airport customers have expressed obvious enthusiasm for more air service at ISP, and JetBlue is consistently one of the most frequent requests,” Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter said in a speech prepared. “We listened and worked very hard to bring additional options to Long Island. Today’s announcement reflects our commitment and active advocacy as JetBlue will now serve Islip’s Long Island MacArthur Airport initially with three Florida destinations that the carrier has carefully selected.
JetBlue is currently the sixth largest airline in the United States and the only major passenger airline based in New York.
JetBlue says flights from Orlando and West Palm Beach begin October 24, and flights from Fort Lauderdale begin October 25.
