Click on your device to open the installation instructions. I cannot overestimate how important it is to keep these open instructions throughout the configuration process so that you can follow them exactly – the steps to install the operating system will really vary depending on the device, and your phone is possible if you do not pay particular attention.
I would first like to take a moment to explain how to configure your computer for installation. You will need to make sure that two command line tools are installed: ADP and Fastboot. These are the tools you will use throughout the configuration.
This is the simplest on Linux: simply install both applications using your package manager (you are a Linux user – you already know how to proceed).
Mac users must configure HomebrewWho is a package manager for the Apple operating system that facilitates software installation like this. I could write many articles on how to define this software, in fact, I have– but the summary is that you must open the terminal, that you can find in the applications file under public services (or by looking for the “terminal” in light) and stick the script on the script on the Homebrew home page there. I first recommend reading on Homebrew, but I know that it is generally considered to be trustworthy. Once HomeBrew set up on your Mac, you will just need to type “Brew Installer Android-Plateform-Tools » And everything will be set up.
Windows users, unfortunately, will have the most trouble. You will need to manually download the tools, store them somewhere, then modify the environmental variables. I recommend Depending on the instructions on the Lineageos website To get advice on how to do it. You can also try to install a Windows package manager like ScoopWhich will facilitate work.
Install LINEAGEOS

Once this software is installed on your computer, you are ready to make the actual installation on your phone. The exact steps will vary depending on your phone, and as I have already said, you must really follow the documentation provided by Lineageos for your device.
That said, the installation generally follows these steps: activate the developer mode on your phone, turn off the OEM locking, start in starting charger of the device so that you can unlock it, flash an image on the device, start in recovery mode, then install the new operating system.
This will be done using your computer’s command line, but you will sometimes have to interact with the device itself. It seems a lot, but it didn’t take me more than an hour to do my first try.
Note that, at some point, you will have the possibility of installing additional modules, including Google Apps and Google Play. Do not jump this step if you want to download applications from Google Play – you will not have the chance to do it again later without restarting the entire process. Again: the important thing here will be to follow your phone’s instructions to the letter. It could take some time, but in the end, you will have an old device with a whole new lease on life.
