Kesha made quite a statement while performing as a surprise guest at Reneé Rapp’s Afternoon at Coachella on Sunday (April 14).
The singer, who appeared about halfway through Rapp’s performance, appeared to give a rendition of his 2010 hit “TikTok.” Only she changed the opening lyrics to “Wake up in the morning like fucking P. Diddy,” raising his middle finger in the air alongside Rapp.
Of course, the song’s original lyrics are: “Wake up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy,” with the mogul himself contributing by quickly saying, “Hey, what’s up, girl?” In November, during a performance in Los Angeles during her Only Love Tour, she dropped Diddy’s name from the song entirely, stating, “Wake up in the morning feeling like me.” That show, at the Hollywood Palladium, took place just a day after singer Cassie Ventura settled a lawsuit against Combs, claiming she endured more than a decade of physical and sexual abuse.
Since then, Combs has been the subject of a series of lawsuits alleging assault, gang rape and sex trafficking. Last month, his homes in Miami and Los Angeles were raided by Homeland Security, and while it was unclear whether Combs was at the center of the investigations surrounding those raids, many of the subjects were interviewed by officials federal authorities over allegations related to Combs.
Besides Kesha’s appearance, Rapp passionately performed songs from his debut EP “Everything to Everyone” and his full-length “Snow Angel.” She was also joined by Towa Bird for “My Tummy Hurts”.
