Lisandro Martinez is back to his best this summer at the 2024 Copa America tournament and he was the best of them all in one area.

Argentina is a national team that is of particular interest to Manchester United supporters, with two of the fans’ favourite players in the ranks, Lionel Scaloni.

Alejandro Garnacho and Lisandro Martinez are part of the Argentine team that kicked off its tournament with back-to-back victories.

Martinez has been a regular at centre-back alongside Spurs’ Cristian Romero. But for Garnacho, not a single minute has been played, although that looks set to change in Argentina’s final group game as he is in contention to start according to Gaston Edul.

Today, Martinez proved to be the best player in the competition in one area.

Lisandro Martinez named best passer at Copa America so far

The 2024 Copa America is well underway and Argentina is looking to retain its crown and secure three major victories in major tournaments following a victory in the 2022 World Cup.

While all the players shone, for Manchester United fans it was Martinez who stole the show as he returns to his best in central defence after a season in which he struggled with injury problems.

According to WhoScored, he is currently the best passer in the Copa America, completing 157 accurate passes, more than any other player, including Lionel Messi.

This of course comes as no surprise to United fans who know exactly how talented Martinez is on the ball.

Martinez set for huge 2024/25 with United

After such a disappointing season for Martinez in 2023/24, he is going to be hungry and desperate to bounce back next season.

After a few worrying moments when he returned from injury only to be immediately out of action again, he now appears to be back to full fitness and will hopefully shake off his injury problems.

When he returns to Old Trafford, Martinez will hopefully have a brand new central partner to play with, such as Jarrad Branthwaite or Jean-Clair Todibo.

Whoever he is paired with, it seems United are keen to give Martinez a partner who is also excellent on the ball. However, as his passing in the Copa America shows, he will always clearly be the better passer.
