Louisville area expected to see more storms tonight


A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for most of WLKY’s viewing area through 4 a.m. Tuesday, and more thunderstorms could develop tonight. Thunderstorms could develop late tonight before plunging south. This storm complex will contain the threat of powerful winds and possibly an isolated tornado warning. Heavy rain will be an additional concern, especially in areas that have already seen a series of showers and thunderstorms. Overnight flooding can be especially dangerous, as it can be difficult to gauge the depth of the water. If the area appears flooded, do not attempt to drive through it. Thunderstorms are expected to continue to move southward through the early morning hours. Tuesday will then only have an isolated thunderstorm threat later in the day. For Tuesday, the SPC has the western portion of the Louisville area and back west under the Slight (or Level Two) risk category. The eastern portion of the Louisville area and east is under the Marginal (or Level One) risk category for Tuesday. Barring any storms, it will be uncomfortably humid and oppressive.

The eastern portion of the Louisville area and east are in the “marginal” (or Level 1) risk category for Tuesday.
