Microsoft has extended the number of devices that can display a shared desktop file without Microsoft account. A recent update allows you to view shared files on an iPhone or iPad even if you are not connected.
It was already possible to open shared files from Word, Excel and PowerPoint without Microsoft account if you have visualized these files on the web. Now this same option is available on an iPad or iPhone.
With this change, the recipients of shared files can now open and display documents in Word, PowerPoint or Excel more easily. Changing shared documents or leaving comments always requires a Microsoft account.
Since Word, PowerPoint and Excel are the standard for many organizations and users, the reception of a shared office document is common. The recent change in Office on iOS and iPados applications increases the accessibility of these file types.
Microsoft shares the steps to share the documents in a Post of the Technological Community::
- Open a Word, Excel or PowerPoint file you want to share.
- Select Share> Liaison parameters (the speed icon in the upper right corner), make sure that the Anyone with the link can modify Or Anyone with the link can display The option is selected, then select the Apply button.
- To share the link with others, type their email address in the Share dialog box, then click on the Send button, or click on the Copy The link button and stick it in a message created using an application such as Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Teams.
Anyone who uses this link on a supported device can open and display the file.
The new behavior deploys version 2.94 (Build 25020422) with Office and iPados applications with version 2.94.
