Last year, my best Android phone was the Razr Plus 2024, which cost $ 999, and it’s always my daily driver because I absolutely like the form factor. However, just before putting my hands on it, I reviewed the Moto G Stylus 5G 2024, a phone that I was almost sure that I would almost forget as soon as I stopped using it. Instead, I didn’t want to drop the phone, even when I had to change speed to the Razr.
The stylus looked like a flagship product in a phone that costs half as much as a Galaxy S25 would cost you today and with fairly comparable specifications. It has a full HD + OLED screen, a 5,000 mAh battery with a 30 W wireless load and a 15 W wireless load, and a fairly capable 50 MP primary camera. Without forgetting, Motorola’s signature vegan leather finish just looks and feels good.
Of course, the performance may not correspond to the snapdragon 8 elite today and all its AI thrive, but the mid -range snapdragon chip in the stylus was not outdone either. Combined with great performance and a solid global set, I would constantly forget that it is a mid -range phone. In fact, my mother wants a new phone, and I am tempted to get him the 5G 2024 stylus, because I would not make her a phone that I would not use myself.
2025 starts on a good note
We are only two months after 2025 and Motorola has already launched two phones in North America. On the surface, they do not seem much, but they have managed to exceed our expectations for the type of experience that we can expect on a phone that costs $ 200. This does not mean that these phones are perfect. The Mediatek chip can feel slow the first time you do something new on the phone, but it seems to catch up in no time. Motorola has also improved its software update promise to now include two operating system upgrades, although it is still far from what you will get on Samsung phones, for example.
However, for what you pay, these phones could be much worse than they are. However, it seems that Motorola and other companies increase standards for cheap Android phones. Even this $ 100 phone from NUU is able to provide users with a half decent experience with zero Bloatware, a 90 Hz screen, a large battery life, and more.
It is ideal for people who do not need all the latest AI features or to spend $ 800 + for the best of the best. This is especially great for parents who want to buy their children their first phone from their children.
It was also something that OnePlus understood with its N-Series Nord phones, which offered a surprisingly good value. And after seeing what the company did with the OnePlus 13R, I can only imagine what a new Nord N. phone would look like. If you read this, OnePlus, it would probably be the right time to present a new one.
Cheap Android phones are about to get an AI boost
This is only the beginning, and so far, I am very excited by what will happen. After all, Motorola changed my expectations regarding cheap Android phones with the 5G 2024 stylus from last year.
Qualcomm is already preparing the way for a new generation of mid -range phones with more AI capabilities. The new Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 is an improved version of the same chip used in the stylus of last year, and it promises better performance as well as on the treatment of AI on devices, which is a first for the series 6. This means that we will start to see more features normally reserved for flagship phones fueled by the Snapdragon 8 elite on phones that cost half the price.
Qualcomm says that Realme, Oppo and Honor will be among the first to introduce phones with the new chip. We do not know if the next G motorcycle stylus will wear the new Snapdragon 6 Gen 4, but I look forward to everything we get, whatever.
As a person who still likes high -end phones like the Razr and the Galaxy S25 Plus, 2025 looks like an excellent year to start watching cheaper phones, especially with the threat of pricing.
