NFL inactive Week 5: Saquon Barkley ruled out

News

The Giants will use five starting offensive line combinations in five games when they face the Miami Dolphins on Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium.

That was assured when rookie center John Michael Schmitz was ruled out Monday night against Seattle with a shoulder injury. He started the first four games.

In addition to Schmitz, standout left tackle Andrew Thomas will miss his fourth straight game with a hamstring injury and guard Shane Lemieux is out with a groin injury.

The Giants elevated offensive linemen Jaylen Thomas and Jaylen Mayfield from the practice squad on Saturday.

Meanwhile, running back Saquon Barkley was listed as doubtful on Friday’s final injury report but was left off the inactive list released 90 minutes before tipoff. Barkley has been limited in practice and has missed the past three games with a sprained ankle. He was listed as questionable before the game against Seattle.
