The tragic demise of a two-year-old, Arrayah Barrett, the offspring of the renowned Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker, Shaquil Barrett, in a pool at their Tampa, Florida residence, has brought immense sadness to the Buccaneers family.
In their statement, the Buccaneers expressed their condolences, saying that no words can alleviate the Barrett family’s grief. During this difficult time, the team extended their support and prayers to Shaq, Jordanna, and their family.
Mourning the Loss of Barrett
Tampa Police Department officers responded to a report of a toddler who had accidentally fallen into a pool at a Tampa property before 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time. Despite efforts to save her life, the little girl was declared dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital.
An investigation into the matter is currently underway by the Tampa Police Department, and according to their statement, the incident appears to be a tragic accident.
The Tragic Accident
Arrayah Barrett was the youngest of the four children of the Barrett family. Shaquil Barrett, who will soon turn 30, has been with the Buccaneers for six seasons and has been named to the Pro Bowl twice. He is a talented linebacker and is noted for leading the NFL with 19.5 sacks of opposition quarterbacks in 2019. Unfortunately, his 2022 season was truncated due to an Achilles tendon injury.
