Heisman Trophy candidate and Oklahoma State star guard Ollie Gordon was arrested Sunday on suspicion of drunken driving and speeding, authorities said.
Gordon, 20, was stopped on Interstate 35 near Moore, Oklahoma, early Sunday morning after a highway patrol officer noticed a car swerving at about 82 mph, KOCO-TV reported, citing a police report. The officer wrote that he noticed “an odor associated with an alcoholic beverage” coming from the vehicle.

The football player reportedly told the officer he had not been drinking but had been around friends who had been drinking. He refused to take a field sobriety test and later admitted to consuming an alcoholic beverage, the report said.
Gordon also revealed he had two open bottles of alcohol in his vehicle, the station reported. He was later taken to the Cleveland County Jail, and a breath sample later revealed he had a blood alcohol level of 0.11, which is above the legal limit for an adult under 21.

Gordon was voted the 2023 Big 12 Player of the Year and was named an All-American for the first time in his career. He decided to return to the Cowboys after his sophomore season.
He rushed for 1,732 yards and 21 touchdowns for Oklahoma State.
“We are aware of the situation,” the school told the station.

Gordon is charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol under the age of 21, transporting an open container of alcohol, failure to maintain a single lane of traffic and speeding.
