Samsung’s One UI 7, based on Android 15, is likely to revamp the way you interact with notifications, and the latest beta introduces a new feature that lets you take charge of your alerts and avoid chaos.
Reddit user FragmentedChicken (via Android Authority) discovered a cool new feature called Filter Notifications in the second beta of One UI 7, designed to make alerts easier to manage.
You can find this handy feature in the Settings menu under “Notifications,” then “Advanced Settings.” It divides your notifications into two categories: important alerts go at the top, while less critical ones are placed below. It’s a simple way to keep your priorities clear.
This feature is pretty cool because it gives you a lot of control. You can filter your notifications in three ways. “Old notifications” hide alerts that are past their peak, usually a few days old. “Background Activities” removes notifications from apps running in the background so you don’t get bombarded. Finally, “Collapsed Notifications” prevents notifications you’ve already hidden from reappearing.
Notifications marked as “Old,” from “Background Activities,” or those that you have “minimized” are carefully moved to a section called “Other Notifications.” When enabled, this section appears as a separate tab below the main notification panel.
To be clear, filtered notifications are not deleted: they are simply stored in a small “X more notifications” bubble at the bottom of the panel. If you want to view them, just tap on them and they will appear in a tidy list.
As shown in the screenshots below, when no filters are active, the background app’s KDE Connect notification appears front and center in the main panel. Once you enable the “Background Activities” filter, the KDE Connect icon will move to a “More Notifications” bubble. Tapping this bubble brings up all filtered notifications, displaying them in one place.
Smartphones are everywhere, making life easier, but they also have a major drawback: the endless stream of notifications. With alerts constantly coming from all sorts of apps, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and lose focus.
The new Filter Notifications feature solves this problem by sorting alerts based on their importance. It’s a smart way to tidy up your notifications and make everything more organized.
