OnePlus is not your average phone brand, and the OnePlus 13 is refreshing proof that they can exceed competition at a better price.
In recent weeks, I have used the OnePlus 13 as a daily driver, and it is powerful and unique, with a well -rounded mixture of features, improved photography and updated design.
So far this year, this is my new favorite phone, especially because OnePlus has not completed the device with unnecessary infirmary features, and they focus on price and quality.
I have some small complaints about some of the features, and even photography to a certain extent, but I am very impressed by OnePlus how they continue to evolve.
Price and availability
This is something I speak normally at the end, but the prices and where you can get the OnePlus 13 are important.
The OnePlus 13 is available from $ 1,249.99 in Canada and $ 899.99 in the United States in Midnight Ocean, Arctic Dawn and Black Eclipse. This includes 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, where it is available with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage for $ 1,399.99 Canadians.
In Canada, the OnePlus 13 is available via the OnePlus website And Best Buy Canada, while the United States sells him to OnePlus, Best Buy and Amazon.
The price opposes the new phone directly against the latest Google Pixel phone, and it is much cheaper than the first two Samsung flagship phones. These are major factors to make an upgrade decision, and it makes the flagship phone incredibly attractive.
Performance, RAM and Multi -Multi
The OnePlus 13 is fast, thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 elite, with 16 GB of RAM, if you choose the most powerful phone. However, the two models can soar quickly thanks to the expansion of OnePlus RAM. With the 16 GB of basic ram, I increased my OnePlus to 28 GB of Ram, and that makes everything fly.
Not everyone has the same requirements as me, but I change videos on my phone, and it’s the best test of any processor and overall phone stability. On the other phones, I had the application crash, it will not load certain video files because they are too large, or the application is just stands, but the oneplus is so powerful, I do not never have any problems. I even put the system to the test and tried to modify a long video, more than 10 minutes, and the system worked as a charm.
For most users, the power of the phone is more obvious when you play, or even simply multitasking. I often keep a lot of applications open at the same time, and turn them around are fast and effective.
Players will also appreciate that the phone has a double cryo-speed vapor room, to keep heat down, even during longer sessions. OnePlus has also published a new fast charger that helps reduce heat, the magnetic charger OnePlus Airvooc 50W.
Finally, Oxygenos 15 feels fluid and stands against competition. Certain features are familiar to Android, such as Circle To Search, but some new features are interesting, such as the new translation options with the OnePlus Buds Pro 3. Oxygenos 15 is my new favorite user interface for simplicity, customization options and Speed improvements.
Cameras, image quality and AI
The image quality on the new phone has a number of improvements, thanks to the new processing, a modification of the construction of the Zoom camera and the Hasselblad refinements, in particular for portraits.
Although the specifications of the camera are essentially identical to the OnePlus 12, the software makes the difference. I admit that I thought that the OnePlus 12 was one of the best cameras I have ever used on a phone, especially in portrait and pro mode. The OnePlus 13 has notable improvements to photos, and it has a very improved approach to capture photos in difficult lighting conditions.
The new Burst Clear mode captures the action beautifully, as you will see in some of my examples of photos below, and the 5th generation Hasselblad camera for mobiles does wonders. In addition, I even found the results of the camera very improved, even when I had the sun behind me or on my shoulder.
One of the biggest upgrades is 4K 60FPS Dolby Vision HDR on all cameras, including the front camera. Vloggers and creators will be impressed by the results.
And I appreciate the results of the new intelligent modes, which will appear to help capture better photos of fireworks, stage lighting and silhouettes.
The standard photo zoom varies from 0.6 to the ultra-large corner, at 1x, 2x, 3x and 6x, but you can zoom up to 120x. The Zoom 3X camera is by far my favorite and offers exceptional clarity and depth in a wide range of situations. For digital zoom, 6x and up to 20x can provide decent results in good lighting conditions, but the results are sometimes struck and missing.
The only complaint I have is how AI is used to improve zoom results. Depending on what you shoot, the results do not always work. With the digital zoom beyond 20x, some things end up taking strange contours and textures, and that does not really improve the image. I do not know if it is better or worse than the photos pixelated, but there is also no way to extinguish it.
Some unique AI features that you can use after taking photos include AI retail boost, to make the photos clearer, aburur and a gum for reflection. The boost of details is not bad, but the results are limited. Until now, I have not been very lucky with reflection, because it generally removes only small amounts of reflections.
All that says, I always think that the cameras and the results are very impressive. Photos look like and feel more like real camera images, which says a lot, rather than phone photos that are often supersaturated and unrealistic. I also had excellent results using the camera at night.
Display, design and construction quality
The display on the OnePlus 13 is absolutely magnificent, with a screen resolution up to 3168 × 1440 and a 120 Hz screen. The 6.82 -inch Amoled screen is alive and shiny, and it has an average brightness of 1,600 nits, with a brightness of 4,500 nits higher.
The use of the screen is fast and reactive, and activate a special feature called Gloves mode, you can even use the phone with ordinary gloves.
The most interesting thing to mention for construction and quality of construction are the IP68 and IP69 notes. Although the IP68 is widely visible on many phones and means that the telephone resists water, to a certain extent, IP69 means that the OnePlus 13 is also resistant to high pressure rivers.
For example, OnePlus gave me a chance to put their phones in a dishwasher and a washing machine, and they came out well. Although there are a number of limitations for both notes, including the type of water, it is refreshing to see a phone that can take a little more abuse.
Overall, the construction quality is really solid, I love the slightly curved front glass and the rear panel, the metal frame, and above all, the magnificent color of the Midnight Ocean, with the micro-fiber vegan leather. I also think that the new design of the camera looks great, with the brilliant white finish.
Battery authorization and load
None of the competitions can increase the life of the OnePlus battery or load speeds. So far, this has not been done, and this is one of the main reasons why I like phones, because I generally only need to charge once every 1-2 days , depending on the way I use it.
The OnePlus 13 presents its first 6,000 mAh silicon nanostack battery and a loading cable up to 100W, thanks to the candle and a Supervoc power cable included. None of the competitors includes the electric cable and the brick, so that’s another point for OnePlus in my books.
1%, I can charge 100% in about 40 minutes, and I can get a very good load in less than 15 minutes to get me a afternoon or more.
OnePlus has also launched its new Airvooc 50W magnetic charger that players will love, acting to cool the device and supply it during long sessions.
This new charger is thanks to the magnetic case that you can get for the phone, which makes it compatible with the Magsafe accessories, but I have not tested this feature.
If you do not need the best screen resolution, the increase in colors, the sharpening of the image and a few other cosmetic display features, you can also extend the life of the battery even further. At 12% load, the battery saving mode offered that I could keep the phone up to 5 hours, or even up to 2.5 hours at a standard setting.
Final reflections
The OnePlus 13 is exceptional and it is an excellent upgrade. The performance, reliability, power and catchy photography are all distinguished.
The speed of the phone and the excellent user experience are two of my favorite things, but I also captured incredible photos and videos with the phone, and I think that the photo above is one of the best than J ‘Has never captured with a phone. It is clear and vibrant, with a depth and beautiful natural colors. I can usually locate the difference between camera and phone photography, but OnePlus has scrambled the lines.
