Paralyzing faults found in the first beta for iOS, iPados, Watchos

If you are thinking of testing beta iOS 18.4 or Watchos 11.4 on older devices, don’t.

Apple has not signed and deleted Watchos 11.4 Beta 1 for the Apple Watch Series 6, and fired iOS 18.4 Beta 1 from the iPhone 12 and some selected iPad models.

The company has removed the beta version of the next iOS and Watchos of Testing updates on certain models on February 22 due to the reports that the beta version made the Apple Watch 6 series unusable. The first beta iOS 18.4 would have caused a start -up loop for testers working with certain iPhone 12 and iPad models.

Apple had just published the first developer Betas for iOS 18.4 and others dare the day before, February 21. Beta-tters have reported the problems to A Reddit Sub-Ford Consulted at Apple Watch beta tests.

It is too early in the test process for a reliable list of what is changed to be available, but we think that the problem of Watchos beta only affects the Apple Watch Series 6, the oldest model that could execute it. The 6 Series was initially published in September 2020.

The problem affects the four models of the Apple Watch Series 6: GPS 40mm and 44mm and GPS +cellular versions.

IOS 18.4 Beta 1 was also fired for old models

In addition, Apple has pulled the beta 1 iOS 18.4 update for testers using certain iPhone 12 models, the cellular version of the eighth generation iPad, both Wi-Fi and cellular models The fourth generation iPad Air, and the base of M2 Cellular versions of 11 and 13 inch of the sixth generation iPad Air, which is the last model.

Apart from the sixth generation iPad Air models in 2024, all products with the beta version not signed by Apple were published in 2020. We do not know how much Apple will be able to identify faults and publish Updated beta versions for tests.

It is also not known if Apple will also publish a corrective for testers whose Apple watches or other devices have been broke or put in a starting loop by defective beta. If the company follows its usual procedure, it will reissue this first beta version in a corrected form before moving on to subsequent versions.

As always, beta of updates to the upcoming system must always be approached with caution by inexperienced testers. The backups of the devices must be carried out before any installation or test of a beta version is attempted.
