Power is fully restored in Carroll County following a severe storm Tuesday afternoon.
According to the MidAmerican Energy Company Outage Map, there are no more power outages for their customers as of Wednesday morning. PowerOutage.us also reported no outages for Carroll County.
Geoff Greenwood, media relations manager for MidAmerican Energy Company, said a peak of 1,481 MidAmerican customers in Carroll County were without power as a result of the storm.
As of 5:18 p.m. Tuesday, Greenwood said all customers should have their power restored.
Waves of severe weather swept across Iowa on Tuesday. Allan Curtis, meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Des Moines, said wind speeds reached 77 miles per hour in Carroll.
Rainfall estimates for Carroll proper range from two inches to just over three inches, Curtis said.
“Towards Carroll, in Carroll County itself, we have no reports of significant flooding,” Curtis said. “I wouldn’t be surprised if in the southern parts of the county there had been some gravel backroads or some rural roads covered in water, things like that, but nothing significant has been relayed to us as of this stadium.”
Curtis said there were no reports of large hail in the area, defined as hail larger than a quarter.
The bad weather particularly affected another Iowa community.
At a press conference Tuesday evening, Sgt. Alex Dinkla, public information officer for the Iowa State Patrol, confirmed several deaths in Greenfield, a town in Adair County. The city suffered significant damage after being directly hit by a tornado, with parts of Greenfield completely destroyed.
At the same press conference, Dinkla confirmed there were at least a dozen injuries from the tornado.
Greenfield is 74.4 miles southeast of Carroll, which equates to a one-hour, 24-minute drive.
The Greater Greenfield Community Foundation is accepting donations for tornado relief at www.greenfieldiafoundation.org. Donations can also be mailed to GGGCF Tornado Relief, PO Box 13, Greenfield, IA 50849.
