The Orioles clinched the top seed in the American League playoffs with 101 wins this season. It was one of the winningest seasons in franchise history and the Orioles’ winningest season since 1979, when the Orioles won 102 games and advanced to the World Series. But after two losses at home, the Orioles now face the possibility of a playoff sweep.
They didn’t get swept throughout the regular season, but the Rangers have that chance now. They’ll return home after going 4-0 on the road in the playoffs, posting stunning results against the AL East giants in the Rays and Orioles.

The Rangers have been much better offensively at home than on the road this season, where they have a 4-0 record. They return to Globe Life Field and are hitting .274/.349/.495 this season (batting average 22 points higher and OPS 105 points higher than on the road). The Orioles’ pitching staff has also been streamlined.
Eovaldi is interesting. Before his forearm injury, he was one of the best pitchers in baseball. He returned in September and posted a 9.30 ERA in six starts but never logged more than five innings in any game. Then he dominated the Rays (6 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 0 BB, 8 K) in Game 2 of the Wild Card Series at Tropicana Field.
