The recall affects certain 2021-2024 Bronco Sport and 2022-2023 Maverick vehicles. Ford recalls Bronco Sport and Escape models due to fuel leak
Federal auto regulators also recently announced an investigation into Ford’s recall of nearly 42,652 automobiles following an error with cracked fuel injectors that they say can cause gas leaks and trigger engine fires.
In a summary report released last week, NHTSA wrote that it is opening an investigation into a recall that affects the 2022-2023 Bronco Sport and 2022 Escape vehicles.
According to the federal investigation announcement, owners can take their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealership to have a drain tube installed in the vehicle free of charge.
The remedy also includes a free update of the engine control software to detect a drop in pressure in the fuel injection system, the federal regulator reported. If this happens, the software will disable the high pressure fuel pump, reduce engine power and reduce the temperature in the engine compartment. Owners will also receive a “search for service” message, according to the documents.
