It is the rereading of the rumor, a weekly chronicle in 9TO5MAC Offering a quick overview of the most recent Apple product rumors, with analysis and comments. Today: great developments with Apple’s first foldable iPhone, plus iOS 19 and Siri. Here are the latest Apple rumors of this week.
Ming-Chi Kuo on the first Apple foldable iPhone
Ming-Chi Kuo, analyst with sources in the supply chain, shared his “predictions” for the first foldable iPhone of Apple to come in 2026.
Here is an overview of what he expects:
- Book style design, not the previously reported fold
- 5.5 inch exterior display and 7.8 -inch interior screen
- Press ID in the side button, probable without any identity document
- Retail prices “greater than $ 2,000 and $ 2,500”
- No visible folds or wrinkle of the fold
- 9-9.5 mm thick when folded, and only 4.5-4.8 mm unfolding
- Hinge who uses stainless steel and titanium, with titanium housing
Kuo estimates that only about 3 to 5 million units of the foldable iPhone will be shipped in 2026. Not for lack of demand, but rather because of the complexity of production limiting capacity.
My take -out dishes
One important thing to keep in mind is that Kuo does not necessarily signal them as exact details of the foldable iPhone. Rather, he shares his predictions and expectations according to what he now knows.
It is relevant, for example, because if details like the screen size and the thickness of the device seem in its alley of details of the supply chain, the assumption of prices is only that: a supposition.
That said, this is a fascinating overview of what could nevertheless happen on the foldable iPhone.
I was intrigued by the previous reports according to which the iPhone would have a descending fold design. But I have not necessarily seen it offering a lot of value. A book of book style has much more meaning for me. And as a long-standing fan of the iPad Mini, the possibility of obtaining a tablet of mini-teethle integrated in my iPhone Pochable is very convincing.
Many can still change from here and the expected launch of the fall 2026 of the foldable iPhone, but these rumors have certainly attracted my interest.
Updates of iOS 19 and Siri
During the weekend, Mark Gurman provided updates to the development of iOS 19 and potential delay for certain Siri upgrades.
Gurman says that Siri’s “LLM” version is still on the right track to be launched as part of iOS 19, although probably towards the end of the outing cycle in the spring of 2026. A key aspect of Siri upgrades, however, would be late.
The functions of Siri in the most conversational chatbot style will be apparently no longer revealed as part of iOS 19 in June at WWDC. Instead, they should slip into iOS 20 next year.
My take -out dishes
It is clear that Optai and other competitors have taken ahead of Apple in the assistant race based in LLM. But apart from this problem, I think Gurman reported that Siri’s “delays” are overestimated by many people.
Apple’s approach with its “new era for Siri” was to gradually offer new improvements over time. It seems that this will not continue to happen not only in iOS 18.5 soon, but also iOS 19 and 20.
Siri has a giant user base today, so it is not surprising that Apple will not change everything about it at the same time. Although it is too far behind the competition either a legitimate concern, it is also potentially exaggerated due to the advantages of the ecosystem and the equipment of Apple.
