Spanish LaLiga side Getafe could attempt to sign Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar on loan at the end of the season, Soccernet.ng reports.
Sadiq has had a disappointing spell at Real Sociedad since arriving from Almeria in 2022 for €20 million. In his first season, he injured his cruciate ligaments after only his third game.
This injury kept him from playing for the entire season. He missed 45 games in total. However, Sadiq returned to action last summer and was reinstated to the team.
But the 27-year-old striker is yet to return to his best, having started just 12 of his 26 appearances for Real Sociedad. He also has three goals and an assist this season.
Although coach Imanol Alguacil has always shown support for Sadiq, he seems to have fallen down the pecking order, with Mikel Oyarzabal and Takefusa Kubo getting more playing time. And it doesn’t look like things will improve unless a remarkable turnaround over the summer.
However, it seems Sadiq now has a lifeline. Noventa FC reports that Getafe are considering a loan move for him this summer.
Getafe are set to lose Mason Greenwood, who will return to Manchester United at the end of his season-long loan and a renewal is unlikely.
If this move works out, it will give Sadiq a good opportunity to get more playing time and revive his career.
