Deeb was happy to see her old colleague again.

It’s been almost two months since the sixth episode of AEW’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view aired. The event was teased on the latest episode of Gabby AF.

Serena Deeb was a guest on the podcast. She challenged for the Women’s World Championship at the event and said she saw former WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley backstage. Ripley is married to AEW’s Buddy Matthews.

Deeb spoke about their closeness at the WWE Performance Center. She was emotional upon seeing Ripley and hailed her as the biggest female star in professional wrestling.

The first person I want to face is Rhea Ripley… Yeah (we would kick each other’s butts). We would. When we were at the Performance Center together, we had a really cool bond. I felt really close to her. I think of all the coaches, me and Scotty 2 Hotty, we were kind of like her. I always supported her, I always tried to motivate her and encourage her because I knew and I’m not saying, oh, I knew but I knew. I was like, “This girl is a star. Once she figures out what to do, forget it. She’s going to rise so fast,” which she did and I actually saw her… It was at Double or Nothing. I saw her. I couldn’t believe it when I saw her, I was completely shocked and we hugged. I gave her the biggest hug and we didn’t let go for 10 minutes. We just stood there with our arms around each other. I cried. I cried a few times. I told her, “I’m so proud of you. I knew it. You persevered through so much,” and I love watching her. I think she’s the biggest star in women’s wrestling. I think her in-ring work is incredible on top of all her character work. She’s number one, I told her that. In my opinion, she just operates at a level that… there’s a lot of great women out there but, she’s up there in my opinion and yeah, when I saw her, I was like, “I want to wrestle you so bad!” I think for both of us, it’s a dream match for sure.

In April, Ripley was forced to relinquish her WWE World Women’s Championship due to a shoulder injury. The current champion is Liv Morgan and she is partnered on-screen with Ripley’s Judgment Day stablemate Dominik Mysterio.
