“It’s like I’m married to gymnastics.”
When asked about her life outside of sports, especially her marriage to Owens, Biles was excited.
She said her focus this time around was making sure she had time for herself, her husband, friends and vacations.
“(I’m) even intentional about making time outside of the gym for me and my husband, making time for my family, making time for those vacations that I wouldn’t have said I would definitely skip because Y’all know I’m on vacation,” Biles said with her signature giggle. “But I feel like before, you put relationships and all that on the back burner.
“I used to have a bond with gymnastics,” she continued, “and now I feel like I’m obsessed with a lot of other things, and gymnastics is just a part of my day because at the end of my practice, I’m like Well, I can go home, go back to the house, go back to my husband, go back to my dog, go back to all this stuff,” it used to be like, man, gym, gym, gym, gym. “
Biles and Owens are not only adjusting to married life, but also to separation.
Owens, who signed with the Packers as a free agent in May after four years in Houston, lives more than 1,200 miles from their shared home.
“We’re in a long-distance relationship now. It’s crazy because he left after the wedding,” Biles said. “But it’s so fun to have two professional athletes and people think we’re going to be so competitive. He’s competitive. I’m not competitive. If we were playing video games or something or poker, I think that would be really fun, I don’t care about winning or losing.”
Biles laughed and said everyone asked what she and Owens were doing at home.
“I think we like to have a lot of fun, but we also like to relax because at the end of the day, we both work out a lot and our schedules look very different,” she said. “It’s not as crazy as you might think, like we’d do therapy together or go get a massage or get our nails done together.”
