The longtime collaborators recently opened up about their 30-year relationship in an interview with the Capital XTRA radio program, and Snoop explained how they’ve become like family over the decades – all while doing business together.

“Dr. Dre has always been like a big brother, a mentor. But he taught me professionalism, how to detach yourself from the neighborhood and how to, you know, go into a business, look ahead and not really pay attention to what’s going on behind me,” Snoop, 52, said.

“He always had the attitude and the spirit of, ‘I don’t care what I’ve done, it’s what I’m about to do.’ And that’s a great mindset that I inherited from him,” the “Drop It Like It’s Hot” artist added. “I don’t even know how many albums I’ve done since I started, but it’s always about what’s next, what’s best.”

Snoop added of Dre, 59: “He’s like a big brother, a protector. I love being with him in the studio and in real life.”

The duo recently teamed up to launch Gin & Juice by Dre and Snoop, a ready-to-drink canned cocktail inspired by Snoop’s 1994 single of the same name, produced by Dre.

Elsewhere in the Capital XTRA In an interview, Snoop said he appreciated how Dre took “control” when they worked together. “I say that, and I mean it, because outside of Dr. Dre, I’m like the boss; I’m the one who has to make the creative decisions and make sure and all that,” he said, before adding, “When I’m with him, I can just be an artist, I can just be Snoop Dogg.”

Dre agreed, explaining that the “What’s My Name?” rapper can take “the passenger seat” when they collaborate: “It takes a ton of trust to be in that position and let someone like Snoop and his caliber trust me with his shit.”

“You know what I mean? It means I can ruin everything,” he continued. “I love being in his shoes, and I love that he trusts me with his career, and I’m never going to let my brother down.”
