STORMS END…VERY HOT AND MORE HUMID TODAY

As expected, strong to severe thunderstorms moved through northeastern Wisconsin before dawn. The strongest storms produced wind gusts of 60-80 mph and hail 1″ in diameter. Power has been out in many areas, but we are hopeful that power crews will be able to restore it as the day progresses. Thanks to heavy rain last night, drivers should be careful of standing water during their morning commute.

Now that the storms are gone, our attention turns to today’s warmer and wetter weather. Afternoon high temperatures will climb into the upper half of the 80s. However, with a slight increase in humidity, our heat index will reach the 90s. Be sure to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water in today’s ambient heat.

But the heat doesn’t last long… A cool front crossing the region will help lower temperatures in the days to come. Tomorrow through Friday, high temperatures will fall back into the 70s. Humidity will also gradually decrease, as drier, more comfortable air arrives later in the work week.

A secondary cool front moving through the region tomorrow could trigger an isolated shower or thunderstorm. Otherwise, Wednesday looks like a mix of sun and clouds. Another weather phenomenon will affect the region on Friday. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible again. Fortunately, this precipitation does not appear to be too heavy and the outlook for severe weather appears LOW.
